The Effect of Vitrectomy using the Ocutome
|

Abstract
|
|
|
Anterior and posterior vitrectomies were used to treat 33 cases of various ocular diseases including vitreous opacities, ocular trauma and anterior segment diseases. The results are summarized as follows
1. Vision improved after surgery in 82% of the eyes, was unchanged in 1200, and decreased after surgery in 6/00/.
2. Anterior segment diseases had improved visual results in all 7 cases and ocular trauma cases had the functional success rate of 82%. Posterior segment diseases had the worse visual results with 57% of operations functionally successful.
3. The operative complications were 2 eyes of vitreous hemorrhage and 1 eye of hyphema. The postoperative complications were 2 eyes of increased intraocular pressure, 1 eye of retinal detachment and 1 eye of vitreous hemorrhage.
